Fragments from Quiet Worlds
Some of these works began as memories of places. Others appeared first as images, long before they found their way into stories. Together they form fragments of the inner landscapes from which my paintings, illustrations and books have grown

Green Tree
Inspired by a tree near John’s house in Adrigole, below Hungry Hill, this painting was created in 2019 as part of a body of work shaped by memory, place and story. Rather than describing the tree literally, it tries to hold the atmosphere around it — the silence of the bogland, the mystery of remembered light, and the quiet sense of presence that remained long after the place itself had gone from sight.
Gouache, 2019
Original retained in the artist’s collection. Fine art prints available.
